Westward Bound: Phoenix
Arrived in Phoenix!
We’re pumped about closing our last leg of Days out the Middle in an area as excellent as this one. As soon as our plane was touching down and we could see the vast desert and red mountains from our tiny window, we knew this was going to be a special place.
We briefly met with Dom, a recent transfer from Houston working at a neuroscience clinic, before hitting up the Arizona Taco Festival and striking conversation with locals over a mutual love of Mexican food.
Our small talk quickly shifted from delicious tacos to class-ism and the demeanor of Phoenixers in comparison to outsiders, but more to come on that later.
All throughout the day we’ve been mystified by the desert atmosphere and overall clay-colored tint of the landscape, which seems to bring out a sense of tranquility in everyone we’ve met.
Stay tuned for more to come as we continue to drive around with the windows down.
